Making survey collection easier and impact data more valuable for community sport foundations

The challenge: collecting data shouldn't take time away from creating impact

Community sport foundations spend their days developing programmes, engaging participants and making a difference in their communities. But behind every programme, there is administration: collecting survey responses, processing forms, updating databases and preparing reports for funders and partners.

Many organisations still rely on pen-and-paper surveys, while others use digital tools. Both have their place, but when the information ends up in different systems, bringing everything together becomes time-consuming.

At Community Sport Solutions, we believe there is a better way.

One process, two ways to collect feedback

With the CSS Suite, foundations can combine traditional pen-and-paper surveys with digital questionnaires through Typeform, all managed within one connected environment.

Paper surveys can be printed with QR codes and identifiers linking responses to the right participant, programme and session. Once completed, forms can be scanned and uploaded, with AI-assisted recognition helping digitise responses and support quality checks.

Digital surveys offer another straightforward way to gather feedback, with responses brought into the same central data environment.

The result is a more connected process that reduces manual data entry while allowing foundations to choose the collection method that works best for their participants.

From survey responses to meaningful insights

The real value goes beyond saving administrative time. By bringing paper and digital responses together, foundations can connect feedback to participants, programmes, KPIs and organisational targets.

This makes it easier to monitor progress, understand whether programmes are achieving their objectives, identify differences between participant groups and discover opportunities to improve delivery.

It also creates a more consistent basis for impact reporting, helping foundations prepare and share relevant information with partners and funders, including the Premier League Foundation where appropriate.

Already making a difference

Foundation of Light and The Albion Foundation approached Community Sport Solutions with a practical challenge: making survey collection and processing easier for their teams.

Both foundations have started using the CSS Suite to combine paper and digital surveys in a more connected process.

This is exactly why we exist. We want foundations to spend less time managing data across disconnected processes and more time using that data to understand their communities and improve their programmes.

Is your foundation still spending hours processing surveys or bringing information together from different systems? Let's talk about how we can make that process easier, so your team can focus on what matters most: creating impact.
